Bertrand Planes - Bump it!

from March 21 to April 28, 2013 - Vitrine 7 place du Parlement, Bordeaux

Bump it! is a video projection process on volume applied in a series of works by Bertrand Planes and initiated in 2006 in collaboration with the CNRS. The technique used on a computer to apply textures to virtual volumes is here diverted and applied to a real volume painted white.

In the exhibition space, a video projector projects the original image onto the white volumes and virtually restores texture to the elements of the decor, which can undergo infinite variations. The software cancels the anamorphosis and the deformations; the colors and texture of the projection re-dress according to precise contours, in "trompel'oeil", the original scene. Each installation is unique and is inspired by the place in which it is presented. As often in the work of Bertrand Planes, the Bump it! evokes the computer mode of thought and practice, while re-contextualizing them in a more existential perspective.
