Cécile Noguès - Melancholy crab meat

July 3 to August 24, 2014 - Vitrine 7 place du Parlement, Bordeaux

With great formal freedom Cécile Noguès renews the language of a medium linked to the decorative arts. Ceramics allow the artist to approach sculpture in the rudimentary and archaic mode of modeling and pictorial covering with enamel.

The “Balloons”, “Sweet sausages” series and a new series presented in the display case humorously explore the primitive form of the clay sausage.

The allusive sculptures oscillate between abstraction and figuration. The artist works on this tensioning by seizing the tools of anthropology, sociology or even aesthetics.

By lending itself to the game of amateurism, she aims for an eclectic and mismatched sense of the history of art.

Exhibition scheduled as part of the Metropolitan Summer of the Cub.
