Hugues Reip - White Spirit
from December 21, 2012 to February 10, 2013 - Vitrine 7 place du Parlement, Bordeaux
Shadow theaters, cartoons and original cinema are some of the areas in which Hugues Reip likes to venture to rethink the form of the exhibition. The artist favors DIY artifices, developed with great economy of means and apparent simplicity. Deconstructing the mechanisms of the spectacle without falling into the pitfall of the spectacular, his works show a meticulous lightness.
The work White Spirit is exemplary of this dynamic. The shadows of cut-out silhouettes stuck on a turntable are projected onto a taut screen. Fantastic characters, materialization of nocturnal spirits, engage in an uninterrupted magical and carnival parade.
