Plein air is a project between music and video, born out of a series of interviews with ethno-musicologist Jean-Michel Beaudet, a specialist in Tulé orchestras among the Wayapi of central Amazonia.

Research in the fields of anthropology and ethnology is predominant in the artistic practice of Laure Subreville . She imagined here a contemporary ceremonial project around the same instrument: the synthesizer.

The artist collaborates with musicians from Bordeaux. A sound experimentation residency took place at Espace29 in Bordeaux. The pieces composed are original works focused on “ambient” and “drone” electronic music.

The video produced by Laure Subreville features male orchestras in a stone quarry. The film offers an outdoor live performance of pieces composed during the residency, around the issues of sound in space, resonance with the landscape, the rock and listening between musicians.
In this ceremony at the Synth, each man carries his instrument at arm's length, fixes his amp behind his back and harnesses cables and other connections. “Wearing your music” contributes to the performative and visual aspect of the work. Mickaël Apollinaire, also known by his stage name Monsieur Crâne, becomes the leader of an ensemble of eight synthesizer players.
