Rémi Duprat's current approach revolves around a reflection on the quest for exoticism, affecting practices and landscapes, their modes of “consumption” and “marketing”. It is by focusing on leisure objects, the notion of tourism and that of the image, that an aesthetic and political vision is translated into practices. This approach asks questions about the origins, interculturality, attitudes, which can be relative and significant of an environment. Through the exhibition La Villa Marguerite , the artist deepens this “quest” by drawing on images of villas and detached houses.

The images of these new modern and standardized dwellings reveal the vision of an “Eden” through the use of produced landscapes, objects and a specific aesthetic. This model of villa appears as a model house, a showroom of the habitat.

Rémi Duprat's plastic work comes in part from the meeting of an image and a domestic object. This is why the context and the objects present in this standard interest him: they describe a perfect artificial oasis in which appears social behaviors highlighting possible truths and the absurdities of our time.

A few distinctive elements are particularly invested in this installation: a fake marble basin, a decorative garden statue, an archetype of a bouquet of flowers, a monument barbecue.
